Memorial Day 2025

Image
Today, we celebrate Memorial Day to honor those who died fighting in the U.S. Armed Forces. We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The above phrase is attributed to Howard William Osterkamp, Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. Billy Ray Cyrus wrote the song  “Some Gave All”  to emphasize the contribution of the fallen heroes. The link will take you to a copy of the lyrics and the song audio. Have you lost friends or family members in the service? Our thoughts and prayers are with surviving loved ones. You can follow the Author on her  Website  or  X .

Traditionally, Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. Today, Memorial Day, 2024, we honor United States military members who died in service to our country, at home and abroad. At 3:00 PM local time, a national moment of remembrance occurs. The date is a solemn time to pay respects and reflect on the soldiers’ ultimate sacrifice. Do you have a loved one who lost their life in armed forces action? What traditions do you and your family follow in deference to their death? Memorial Day 2023

Image
Today,  Memorial Day , we honor those who have died serving this country in the US military. Typical remembrances include parades. And visiting cemeteries to mourn loved ones. Unfortunately, many people have forgotten or chosen to ignore the intent of Memorial Day and consider the date one more long weekend off work and an opportunity to picnic and party. Please don’t wish others a “Happy Memorial Day.” The day has a solemn intent: to remember and honor. Do you have a family member or friend who gave all? Do you plan a unique way to honor them?   Today, Memorial Day, we commemorate those who died in the line of duty, protecting our freedom. Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it. ~ Unknown The patriot’s blood is the seed of freedom’s tree. ~ Thomas Campbell You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don’t ever count on having both at once. ~ Robert A Heinlein Today we honor those who have paid the ultimate price. You can follow the Author on her  Website  or on  Twitter .
